At Nest Architectural Design we're driven to design a place you're proud to call home.
Nest offers an creative, responsive service to homeowners and builders in the Manawatu region. With our practical and design experience, we can make building, renovating and the consent application process easy.
We would love to work with you and your building ideas. Contact us today to find out how we can help.
We listen, we discuss, then we design. Read on to find out about our process outlined below. We will talk about these steps in more detail during our initial meeting.
Whether this is your first time, and you don't know where to start, or if you've done this many times before - we can help!
Where we discuss what you would like to achieve, what we can offer, how long it is likely to take and an estimate of likely design cost.
Following our meeting, we then review and consider your ideas, scope of project, budget and other design assumptions. We will then provide you with a proposal confirming the scope of the design project and costings.
It's time to start drawing. We form your ideas into preliminary sketches. Often there are changes at this stage, as sometimes it is not until we start to put things on paper that it is possible to see what works well and what needs improving.
Once we have agreed on the basic floor plan, we prepare more detailed drawings that include elevations to show what the house or alteration will look like from various angles.
This is where we create a full set of plans and specifications needed by the local council in order to issue the Building Consent. With working drawings complete, you can begin to source quotes from builders and related tradesmen.
We will submit the working drawings to the Council on your behalf and answer any questions they may have. We monitor the Consent process to ensure it is issued as quickly as possible.
Once construction is under way it may be necessary to make a change to the plans. We can carry out a Minor Variation to present to the building inspector or if the changes are more significant, we can prepare an Amendment to the Building Consent.
